We are so very sad to hear of the sudden death of our friend and colleague, Alex Barkas.  On behalf of The BioExec Institute and our members, I would like to extend our deepest appreciation for all the knowledge, expertise, time and energy he contributed to our organization as a Member of our Advisory Board.  In this time of sadness, we would like to remember good times over the years at past Retreats – his lively debate during discussions, his success on the golf course, his love of good wine…and many more.  We will raise a glass in memory of him at our forthcoming Retreat and, as Alex would want, we will ensure it’s a good vintage.  He will be greatly missed and our annual meetings will not be the same without him.  In particular, we think of his wife, Lynda, and his children and extend to them our love and support.

Established in 2004, The BioExec Institute is a network of top executives, key influencers, and other visionaries in the Life Sciences industry, many of whom shape the future of biotechnology. As a non-profit organization, The BioExec Institute’s primary mission is twofold:

  • Encourage the building and strengthening of important working relationships among industry leaders in a global context
  • Promote continued investment and growth in the life sciences

To achieve these goals, the Institute has established a series of intimate retreats. These strictly ‘invitation-only’ meetings provide a unique blend of business and social activities that focus on the forging of direct alliances. The program is developed under the guidance of our Board of Directors and Advisory Board, whose combined experience and knowledge of the industry assists in shaping the content and advising on the selection of people to attend.

In creating these Retreats, The BioExec Institute has recognized that in an era of big conferences and endless satellite meetings, it has become increasingly difficult to find the right opportunity for productive networking and deal making. As such, our meetings place a strong emphasis on maximizing the valuable time and resources of our members through an advanced networking system.
