Dr. Helmut M. Schuehsler is the Chairman & CEO of TVM Capital MENA, Ltd. (Dubai), and the Managing Partner of TVM Capital (Munich & Boston); he is responsible for the Global TVM Capital Life Science Practice. He also serves as Past Chairman of the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (VCA) after his Chairmanship ended on June 19, 2008.
Dr. Schuehsler is the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Curacyte, AG (Munich and Jena in Germany and Durham, NC) and Develogen, AG (Goettingen, Germany). He is a member of the Supervisory Board of Max-Planck Innovation, GmbH, the technology transfer institution of the Max Planck Society; a member of the Internation Advisory Board of the National Technology Enterprises Company (NTEC), Kuwait; and a member of the Advisory Board of Evolvence India Life Sciences Fund, Hyderabad, India.
The TVM Capital Life Sciences Practice is a dedicated provider of venture and growth capital to the international biopharmaceutical industry. For more than 20 years, TVM Capital Life Sciences has financed nearly 115 companies resulting in numerous public offerings on the stock exchanges in Europe and the United States and strategic acquisitions. TVM Capital Life Sciences has an active portfolio of approximately 40 companies in Europe and the United States, managed from the headquarters in Munich and the firm’s office in Boston. In 2008, TVM Capital MENA, Ltd. was founded, based in the Dubai International Financial Center, Dubai, UAE.
During his 19-year tenure, Dr. Schuehsler build the life sciences practice to be a leader in Europe and the US with 820M EUR ($1.3B) under management. He led more than 20 investments in life sciences and has served on various German academic, government, and industry committees since 1990, including as a member of the senate of the Hermann von Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft Deutscher Forschungszentren (HGF).
